Dr. Benson believes that, “regaining the ability to hear can bring a person back into the world around them.” As an international expert, with experience in the research and development of hearing devices, she has a dedication to the field of hearing care that stretches far beyond her practice. She brings this high level of expertise with her to her daily interactions with the patients she sees. Dr. Benson is board certified by the American Board of Audiology and is a licensed dispensing audiologist in the state of California.

Dr. Benson completed her audiology fellowship at the California Ear Institute, Palo Alto, CA, and received her Doctor of Audiology degree at Salus University, Osborne School of Audiology, Elkins Park, PA. Prior to that, she received her Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, CA.

Dr. Benson enjoys traveling with her husband and has been complemented on her travel photography. She is an accomplished pianist and has a taste for fine food, wine and craft beer. She keeps herself in shape with running, weight training and yoga.


Lais Ama, brings over 17 years of experience to the practice as a hearing specialist from Brazil. There she worked with the Pontificia Universidade Catholica in Sao Paolo, providing clinical services and presenting research papers on vestibular rehabilitation and the effects of ototoxic drugs on the auditory system.

Lais also completed an internship at the University of Bordeaux, France, and was involved with clinical audiology services, hearing aids and vestibular rehabilitation.

Lais holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Audiology and Speech Pathology from the Pontificaia Universidade Catolica de Sao Paulo and has taken courses in physiotherapy from the Universidade de Sao Paulo – Faculdade de Medicina.

Lais lives in Palo Alto with her husband and three children who are all showing remarkable skills in sports, particularly in swimming and soccer. Lais herself is an avid runner.


Dr. Street believes that hearing and listening are key to communication and our ability to maintain meaningful relationships with friends and family – a belief that can be traced back to her father who developed hearing loss following his retirement from the military. She is dedicated to providing quality of life improvements through evidence-based practice.

Dr. Street obtained her Doctor of Audiology degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Her background includes working in medical settings, private practices and recently in a hearing technology start-up. Years of experience has allowed her to work with a variety of patients from pediatric to older adults. She holds a dispensing license in the state of California, is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, and is certified by the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

As the daughter of an Air Force military enlisted man, Dr. Street has lived in many places in the US and around the world. She spent some of her high school years in Japan and can greet patients in many languages. She enjoys gardening and hiking in our national parks, and also enjoys reading and traveling with her family in her spare time.


Dr. Poindexter believes that “poor hearing causes you to miss out of life’s most precious moments.” She knows this well, having grown up with a deaf grandmother; one who inspired her to help people with hearing loss get the most out of life. She is board certified by the American Board of Audiology and holds a dispensing audiologist license in the state of California.

Dr. Poindexter completed her audiology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, CA, and received her Doctor of Audiology degree from A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Health Sciences, Mesa, AZ. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Audiology from California State University, Sacramento, CA, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Disorders and Speech Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder, CO.

She is actively involved with the California Academy of Audiology, as a regional representative, and is a good liaison for audiologists in the Northern California area. When she isn’t at work, you might find her snowboarding, surfing, riding her bike, traveling, sewing and spending quality time with her family.
